The St. Joseph Orthopaedic Hospital is a 216 bed health facility with specialty in orthopaedics and traumatology, located in Effiduase-Koforidua, in the Eastern part of Ghana.
The Hospital was established in 1959 by the Brothers of the Hospitaller Order of St John of God from the Castilian Province of Spain. On 17 September, 1959, the pioneer brothers – Bro Efren, Bro Rivas and Bro Eduardo Yanez arrived in the country. The first mass and blessing of the Brothers House was held on 19th September, 1959 and they paid a courtesy call on the Chief and Elders of Effiduase-Koforidua E/R.
