OUR RESPONSIBILITIES

The responsibilities of the health care provider in the Male Surgical Unit are comprehensive, covering the entire spectrum of the patients journey from admission (pre- operative) patient journey through the acute recovery phase (post -operative) to discharge. Some of these are;

Direct Patient Care and Assessment which include Post Operative Monitoring, Pain Management, Wound and Incision Care as well as continuous assessment on patient care.

The Male Surgical Unit helps promote recovery and prevents complications through early mobilization, respiratory care, Infection control as well as nutritional support

There are key interest quality Education, communication and coordination there is an effective communication with the surgical team, accurate and concise documentation, patient and family education and proper discharge planning

WHAT TO EXPECT

The expectations of The Male Surgical Ward are to facilitate patients safe and effective recovery from surgery and return to their optimal level of health. This objective is achieved by;

Safety And Stability for a good maintenance of hemodynamic stability. Vital signs are monitored meticulously to detect and manage potential complications such deep vein thrombosis, pulmonary embolism, shock and hemorrhage

Pain Management for effective pain control. There is an accurate assessment in patient pain and the pharmacological and non-pharmacological methods are used to ensure comfort and facilitate mobility

Promote Wound healing. The Male Surgical is an expert in wound care. The Male Surgical Ward has a high integrity of maintaining wound site clean and dry. There is a high monitoring for infection and ensuring adequate nutrition and hydration to ensure tissue repair and overall recovery of every client

There is a proper education on patient and their family on wound care, pain management, medication schedules, warning signs of complications for home recovery. We prepare and coordinate seamless transition from the hospital back to the home ensuring all necessary follow up appointments are in place
